Traditional chalet decorated with love to make your perfect holiday home . . .
The owners of Chalet Bonnevie spent a long time searching for their perfect Alpine home, before falling in love with this traditional property in Les Villards-sur-Thônes. They have since renovated it and redecorated to high standard, using neutral tones and unique decorative touches to get it just the way they want it. You’ll love it too, with its stunning wraparound balcony and decking, peaceful position just 3km from Villard sur Thones, and breathtaking views across the valley to the mountains beyond. The village is half way between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, so you’re in a perfect position to enjoy everything the area has to offer, whatever the time of year.

Non-skiers are well catered for too, and can go ice skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides. Get back to Chalet Bonnevie in time to soothe aching limbs in the hot-tub under the night sky - no better end to the day!
Leap into the unknown or explore the mountains from your 4 star Alpine base . . .
It won’t be easy to tear yourself away from the idyllic garden, hot tub and decking at Chalet Bonnevie, but your diligence will be well rewarded! There’s so much to see and do in the La Clusaz area in the summer. St-Jean-de-Sixt is the only place in the world where you can try Bun-J ride, a cross between ski jumping and bungee jumping! Other more traditional pastimes are available too - marked footpaths crisscross the mountains, many starting from the village, or you can explore by mountain bike or on horseback. There are swimming pool complexes in Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Thônes, but if you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
Your ideal holiday chalet perfectly placed to explore the mountains . . .
When you’re lazing on the terrace at Chalet Bonnevie, it will be hard to believe you are less than an hour from Geneva airport. There’s a good choice of shops and restaurants in St-Jean-de-Sixt, and more in La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand. These villages also have weekly markets where you can pick up fresh local produce and Reblochon cheese. There are larger supermarkets in Villard and Thônes, less than 10 minutes drive away. The medieval town of Annecy, 30 minutes by car, is a must for a day out, whatever the season. It offers a unique mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and museums, and Lake Annecy, said to be the cleanest lake in Europe, is a great place for watersports, swimming, cycling or just relaxing on the beach.
“From the first time we skied in France we loved it, so much so that we decided to look for a place of our own as a base to ski. We first bought an apartment in Meribel in 1999, and enjoyed its skiing for 7 years with our three sons. We had a lovely time there, but it lacked a certain something and we were not exactly sure what. That's when we started to look for our own Chalet. We looked in many ski areas, until finally while driving around Annecy in 2006, we visited La Clusaz, and bingo! We fell in love the the area straight away, so friendly and so beautiful, everything we had wanted. We viewed many chalets but none were what we had wanted. So we stayed in the area for a few days and we eventually found our Chalet Bonnevie. A lot of work was needed but we could see in our minds eye as to what we could do with it. Our plan was to give it character and elegance, be cosy, romantic, homely and very "Mountainy"! And I think we have achieved that. We have spent many wonderful times here with family and friends. It is to us the most beautiful place to be, the views are fantastic. One special experience is to be relaxing in the Jacuzzi at night, winter or summer, looking up at the stars with a drink in your hand.......magic! After a long day in the snow during winter or hillwalking and cycling during the summer, the comfortable beds are also so welcoming and restful. When they can, our sons still come back to ski with us or with their friends. This year we decided we would let out our Chalet Bonnevie and share our enjoyment with others, and hope they will relax and enjoy it charms.”
